Within the drumming community, the Force 503 is recognized as a workhorse entry-level kit. While the stock drum heads that originally came with the kit were mediocre, experienced drummers note that putting high-quality aftermarket drum heads (such as Remo or Evans) on the 9-ply basswood shells and tuning them properly makes this kit "sing" well enough to comfortably use for garage band practices and small local gigs
